How ‘Die With A Smile’ by Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga Transports Us Back to the 2010s

On August 16, 2024, Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga released their first single, Die With A Smile. Mars and Gaga filmed an accompanying music video set on a retro stage in the same outfits they wear on the cover for the single.

Die With A Smile combines elements of soft rock and pop with the mesmerizing vocals of both Mars and Gaga. The silkiness of Bruno Mars’ voice and the jazz-like raspiness of Lady Gaga’s voice pair so beautifully together.

There’s something about this song in particular that takes me back to the 2010s. It could be because of the melody, vocals, and the lyrics. As I keep listening to it on repeat, the more I get transported back to that decade. It’s not just because Mars and Gaga did dominate then but because it’s simply a song I could see being release back then.

The song is emotionally layered as it tells the story of two people in love who want to spend their last moments together. It’s about not taking love for granted and holding onto it because you never know what could happen.

Die With A Smile has its own trend on TikTok with couple posting photo slides with the lyrics: “If the world is ending” on the first slide and “I’d wanna be next to you” on the second slide.

All I know is if they release more collaborations, I’m all in for them.
