Dead to Me premiered its first season on May 3, 2019 on Netflix. The second season premiered on May 8, 2020. The third and final season premiered on November 17, 2022. The dark comedy follows a hotheaded widow (Christina Applegate) who’s determined to hunt down the person who killed her husband while befriending an eccentric optimist (Linda Cardellini) who isn’t quite who she seems. Today, I’m here to tell you my thoughts on the series as a whole and what I thought about the final season. Let’s get into this.

Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini deliver some of the best performances of their entire acting careers. Applegate does such an amazing job with delivering her lines so effortlessly, especially the repetitive f-bombs which I eat up. Jen went through a lot over the course of only three seasons.

Cardellini brings Judy’s imperfections to life on the small screen by giving her so much depth and layers. Like Jen, Judy experiences a lot of changes throughout the show’s run.

Seeing James Marsden portray two characters who are the opposite ends of the spectrum was incredibly satisfying to since I’m used to see him portray characters like Prince Edward from Enchanted and Kevin Doyle from 27 Dresses.

This show is unlike any show I’ve ever watched. The writing is just so good. The comedy hits every time. You never know what is going to happen next. This show exemplifies what twists and turns should be in a TV show.

Every seasons gets more intricate and complicated. Season 3 was no exception. It was full of humor and heart. I knew it was going to be because it’s the final season but I didn’t expect how depressing it was actually going to be.

If you haven’t watched this show yet, you’re missing out. Once you get reeled in, you’re hooked. It’s definitely worth a watch. The blend of the dark humor and drama is the best mixture. I’m not normally into dark humor but it’s evident that the scripts feel organic and not forced.

I’m going to miss this show because there will never be another show like it. I’m excited to see what creator Liz Feldman has up her sleeve for her new Netflix series.
