On November 1, 2022, Taylor Swift announced her next tour, Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour. The tour will be a conglomeration of performances of songs from all of her musical eras. It got me thinking about who I’d love to see go on an eras tour. Today, that’s what I’ll be doing. I’ll be sharing multiple artists who have been in the industry for a long time that would be great candidates for an eras tour. Let’s get into this.
Here are 10 artists who I’d love to see go on an eras tour.
1. Selena Gomez
Selena Gomez got her start in the music industry at the age of 16 with her band The Scene. They released 3 studio albums under their record deal with Hollywood Records. Their first studio album, Kiss & Tell, was released in 2009. The album features Falling Down and Naturally. Their second studio album, A Year Without Rain, was released in the same year. In 2011, their third and final studio album, When the Sun Goes Down was released. The album features Love You Like a Love Song, Who Says, and Hit the Lights.
Gomez went off on her own in 2013. She released her first solo debut album, Stars Dance, that same year. 2 years later, she released, Revival, which features Same Old Love. In 2020, Gomez released her third studio album, Rare, which features Lose You to Love Me. The pop ballad is her most successful song to date.
Selena Gomez has grown over the years and experimented with music. Her earlier music was fun and upbeat pop rock. Her music now has a mature sound but still has hints of her roots. She was a huge part of my childhood. I grew up watching her on Disney Channel. I’d love to see her on a tour performing the songs that jumpstarted her career and the ones that aren’t at icon status just yet.
2. Ariana Grande
Ariana Grande got her start in the music industry in 2013 after her success as Cat Valentine on Victorious. Yours Truly features The Way with Mac Miller and Tattooed Heart. A year later, Grande released her second studio album, My Everything, which features Love Me Harder with The Weeknd and Problem with Iggy Azalea. Dangerous Woman is her third studio album that was released in 2016. Two years later, Sweetener, was released. The fourth studio album from the pop artist features No Tears Left to Cry and God Is a Woman. In 2019, Grande released her fifth studio album, Thank U, Next, which features the song of the same name as the album and 7 Rings. Her sixth studio album, Positions, was released in 2020.
Ariana Grande has definitely experimented in a variety of genres. I’d love to see her do an eras tour. It would be interesting to see her perform her music from the start of her career all the way to her current music. Her style has matured and grown a lot so it would be cool to see her perform the entirety of her catalog.
3. Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus got her start in the music industry when she was living a double life as Hannah Montana on Disney Channel. See what I did there? She did get her start on Hannah Montana and released a two-disc album titled Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus. In 2008, she released Breakout, her second studio album. The album features 7 Things and Fly on the Wall. Between 2009 and 2016, Cyrus released numerous studio albums. In 2017, her sixth studio album was released. Younger Now features Malibu. Her seventh studio album, Plastic Hearts, was released in 2020.
Miley Cyrus wins for dabbling in the most genres and coming into her own as an artist. She’s definitely had some controversial eras that’s for sure. It’d be epic to see her perform the songs from my childhood and her more recent music.
4. Kelly Clarkson
Kelly Clarkson’s beginnings as an artist started when she auditioned for American Idol in 2002. She would go onto to win and this would jumpstart her music career. One of her most iconic songs Since U Been Gone is featured in the album titled Breakaway. It was released in 2004. Between 2007 and 2009, she released her third and fourth studio albums. Stronger was released in 2011 and features Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You). Her first greatest hits album was released in 2012 and features 3 new songs. In 2013, Clarkson released her first Christmas album titled Wrapped In Red. Her seventh studio album titled Piece by Piece features Heartbeat Song and a song titled the same as the album.
Kelly Clarkson is the one artist on this list who hasn’t experimented in different genres. Her style has relatively stayed the same for the last several years. I’d love to see her go on an eras tour just to hear her first songs and how she’s grown as an artist.
5. P!nk
P!nk got her start in the music industry in 2000 with the released of her first studio album, Can’t Take Me Home. A year later, she released her second studio album, Misundaztood, which features Get The Party Started. Between 2003 and 2007, the singer released her third and fourth studio albums. Funhouse, the artist’s fifth studio album, was released in 2008 and features So What. P!nk’s first greatest hits album was released in 2010 and features hits like Raise Your Glass and F*ckin’ Perfect. In 2012, her sixth studio album titled The Truth About Love was released. The singer’s seventh studio album, Beautiful Trauma, came out in 2017.
An eras tour from P!nk would be nothing short of epic. She puts on incredible performances. Her sound when she first started out had elements of rock and pop and now has a more mature sound.
6. Hilary Duff
Hilary Duff went onto the music scene after her success as the title character on Lizzie McGuire. Her second studio album, Metamorphosis, debuted in 2003 while her first compilation album came out in 2005. Most Wanted features her biggest hits at the time and Wake Up. In 2007, the singer released her fourth studio album titled Dignity which features With Love. Her fifth studio album, Breathe In. Breathe Out., was released in 2015. The album features Sparks.
Duff may not have released as many albums as the artists on this list but I’d love to see her perform these songs that were a big part of my childhood. It would also be cool because we haven’t seen her perform in a long time.
7. Aly & AJ
Aly & AJ got their start in the music industry in 2005 with the release of their debut album, Into the Rush, which features Rush and Walking On Sunshine. In 2007, the duo’s third studio album titled Insomniatic was released. The album features one of their most iconic songs to date, Potential Breakup Song. In the early 2010s, they changed the group name to 78violet. After the viral success of Potential Breakup Song on TikTok, Aly & AJ re-recorded the song as an explicit version. The duo released two EPs and their fourth studio album, A Touch of the Beat Gets You Up on Your Feet Gets You Out and Then Into the Sun, in 2021. Their fifth studio album is currently set to be released in 2023 titled With Love From and they released a song of the same title in November of 2022.
Aly & AJ have experimented with different genres of music over the years but have stuck to their tried-and-true rock and pop. I’d love to see them go on an eras tour. I know they still perform Potential Breakup Song but it would be cool to see them perform more of their older music.
8. Avril Lavigne
Avril Lavigne made her way into the music industry for the first time with the release of her debut album Let Go in 2002. It features Sk8er Boi and Complicated and celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. Her second studio album titled Under My Skin was released in 2004. The Best Damn Thing is Lavigne’s third studio album and features Girlfriend. Her fourth studio album, Goodbye Lullaby, was released in 2011 and features Smile and What the Hell. Avril Lavigne’s self-titled fifth studio album features Let Me Go with her then-husband Chad Kroeger of Nickelback and Here’s to Never Growing Up in 2013. She released her sixth and seventh studio albums in 2019 and 2021 respectively. Lavigne is currently working on her eighth studio album.
Avril Lavigne is one of those artists who has really stayed in a few genres. Those being pop, alternative, and rock. I’d love to see her go on an eras tour and I know I can’t be the only one. She has so many iconic songs and it would be so cool to see her perform them all at one time.
9. Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga began her career as a musician with the release of her debut album, The Fame, in 2008. The Fame Monster which is a reissue of her first album features Telephone with Beyoncé and Bad Romance. 3 years later, her second studio album, Born This Way, was released. It features a song of the same title. In 2013, Gaga released her third studio album, Artpop, which features Applause. She released a joint album with Tony Bennet called Cheek to Cheek in 2014. Joanne is the singer’s fifth studio album and was heavily influenced by her Aunt. She released her sixth studio album titled Chromatica in 2020 which features Rain On Me with Ariana Grande.
Lady Gaga is not just one of the most iconic singers of all time but she’s puts on such incredible shows as we saw when she headlined the Super Bowl LI in 2017. Can you imagine the show she’d give us if she had an eras tour? I’m just saying.
10. Melanie Martinez
Similar to Kelly Clarkson, Melanie Martinez got her start in the music industry as a contest on a reality music competition but it wasn’t American Idol. It was The Voice. She auditioned with a cover of Toxic originally sung by Britney Spears. She got 3 out of the 4 judges to turn around for her and ultimately chose Adam Levine as her coach. She made it to the top 6 and got eliminated but this was just the beginning for her. In 2015, she would release her debut studio album, Cry Baby, to critical acclaim. Her second studio album, K-12, is accompanied by a film of the same name in 2019. After School is her fourth EP and it was released in 2020.
Melanie Martinez is one of the most underrated artists in the business. She not only creates music, she creates art. Both of her albums had stories in the lyrics and the music itself. She’s such a visionary and her abilities as a director and artist collided in K-12 which is available to watch on YouTube. I’d love to see an eras tour from Martinez during some point in her career.
