Season 3 of ‘Emily in Paris’ Comes In Haute Or Does It?

Season 3 of Emily in Paris was released on December 21, 2022. The series follows Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) who lands her dream job in Paris as a marketing executive while having to juggle work, friends, and love. Season 3 was full of drama, romance, and as always lots of fashion. Let’s talk about it.

Minor spoilers from season 2 will be below. Don’t continue reading if you haven’t watched season 2.

Season 3 picks up where season 2 left off. Emily is left with a big decision to make. Should she leave Savoir behind and work for Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) or stay at Savoir with her American boss, Madeline (Kate Walsh)? Well, maybe she can do both.

This season was messy and a bit chaotic but what else do you expect from a show like this?

I want to start with talking about the acting performances. I adore Lily Collins so much. there’s just something about Emily that makes you love and dislike her at the same time. The way Collins brings her to life seems so easy for her. There are times when you’re rooting for her one second and the next you’re yelling at her through your TV screen.

I have to say that I think Mindy (Ashley Park) is my favorite character in the entire series. Mindy is so hilarious and passionate about her interests. Park portrays her in a realistic way and I wish I had a best friend like Mindy.

Lucien Laviscount is absolutely irresistible as Alfie. It’s not only that he’s attractive but his personality is what draws you into him. He’s sensitive and cares so much about the people that mean the most to him. All I can say is Alfie deserves better.

I loved Camille (Camille Razat) in season 1 so much. She was just so vibrant and full of life. When I watched season 2, my love for her was still there. Now that I watched season 3, my love for her character has dwindled rapidly. It’s mostly because of the choices she makes for herself. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate her. I’m not a fan of how the writers decided to change the gears with her storyline.

Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) is charming. I’m not the biggest fan of his character because he didn’t really tell Camille the truth about what happened between him and Emily. I mean besides that i guess he’s not that bad. Bravo brings charisma and a gentleness to Gabriel.

Sylvie is a force to be reckoned with. Leroy-Beaulieu is nothing like her character except for the confidence they both exude. Sylvie isn’t afraid to go after what she wants and I aspire to be like her some day.

Luc (Bruno Gouery) doesn’t get the credit that he deserves. Same goes for Julian (Samuel Arnold). Julian deserves more screen time. I want to learn more about his backstory. I want Emily to stop interrupting his pitches for clients. I’m curious to see if he stays at Agence Grateau next season.

Let’s move on to everything that happened in season 3. First off, who will Emily ultimately end up with? Gabriel or Alfie? I honestly don’t care about who Emily ends up with. I know it’s going to be Gabriel. I’m not a huge fan of love triangles because they’re cliché and predictable for the most part.

I liked this season much more than previous seasons. I liked that it wasn’t just focused on Emily but that Mindy, Camille, Gabriel, Alfie, and Sylvie were in the spotlight as well.

The writing isn’t the greatest. The dialogue can be cringey at times and a bit unrealistic. It almost reminds of The CW’s Riverdale but not as horrible though.

The cinematography is stunning. It really showcases the beauty of Paris. I love the editing and how the editors are able to incorporate the text messages on screen and Emily’s Instagram posts.

The fashion has become a major symbol of the show. While, I’m not a fashion expert, I can say that there are wonderful outfits. The women rock the costumes they wear. There were some looks that I thought weren’t my cup of tea. Regardless, the fashion is what differentiates each character from another.

Emily in Paris was renewed for a third and fourth season when season 2 was released in 2021. It’s not clear when the fourth season will be released.

I’m interested to see what’s going to happen in season 4 considering how season 3 ended.
