The Lindsay Lohan Cinematic Universe

Lindsay Dee Lohan was born on July 2, 1986 in New York City and she was raised in Long Island, New York. Lohan began her career as child as child model. She signed with Ford Models when she was just 3-years-old. 7 years later, she starred in the TV soap opera, Another World. Her career spans decades and includes notables roles which I will be discussing today.

The Parent Trap (1998)

Lohan’s career took off when she starred in The Parent Trap in 1998 as identical twins Hallie Parker and Annie James. The 11-year-old was able to portray two distinct personalities effortlessly. Hallie and Annie couldn’t be more different. Hallie is carefree and grounded while Annie is prim and proper.

This film is a remake of the 1961 version which I’ve never seen so I can’t compare. I can say that I can’t picture anyone else portraying Hallie and Annie. She truly brought these characters to life on the big screen.

Freaky Friday (2003)

5 years after the success of The Parent Trap, Lohan went onto star in Freaky Friday as Anna Coleman and her mother, Tess Coleman (Jamie Lee Curtis). Anna is your average 2000s punk rock tomboy. The film is a remake of the original 1976 version. Anna and Tess magically switch bodies by a fortune cookie.

This one of those films that you laugh at every time you watch it. Lohan is so good in this. She masters both characters so well. Her chemistry with Jamie Lee Curtis is evident throughout the entire film.

Mean Girls (2004)

Lohan would go onto star in Mean Girls in 2004 as Cady Heron. I feel like this is the character that most people associate her with because this film made such a huge impact on pop culture. This is my least favorite film from her on this list. I know a lot of you are probably saying, “what?” It’s overrated. Plain and simple. I don’t care for films like this.

Nonetheless, Lohan is great as Cady Heron portraying her need for belonging and what it’s like when you change for the worst really well.

Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen (2004)

In the same year, she starred in Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen as Mary Elizabeth aka Lola Steppe. Watching this film as an adult gives you different perspective to say the least. I haven’t watched this film in years but I remember it well. Seeing Lohan constantly go head to head with Megan Fox was entertaining to say the least.

I feel like Lola was one of the most complex characters she’s portrayed. The character has depth and layers but she’s just a teenager at heart.

Georgia Rule (2007)

3 years later, Lohan starred in Georgia Rule as Rachel Wilcox. In the late 2000s, Lohan began to slowly take on more serious and mature roles.

Rachel is rebellious and is heavily addicted to alcohol and drugs. I don’t remember this film that much because it’s been a long time since I’ve watched it. I do remember how different Rachel was compared to Lohan’s previous roles.

What’s Next For Lindsay Lohan?

Her career has spawned decades and she’s known for so many iconic roles. Lohan recently made her film comeback starring in the Netflix film, Falling for Christmas. She signed a multi-picture deal with the streaming giant. The film she starts in is called Irish Wish which is scheduled to be released in 2023. Mrs. Lohan is booked and busy. I’m so glad she’s back on our screens. It feels like we traveled back in time to the 2000s again. What a time to be alive.
