‘Superman’ Soars with Its Humor and Humanity

Superman released in theaters on July 11, 2025. It tells the story of Superman aka Clark Kent (David Corenswet) getting drawn into conflicts at home and around the world and gives Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) ammunition to end him once and for all. The question is if reporter Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan) and his flying companion, Krypto, can help save him. Let’s get into this.
My boyfriend has been talking about Superman for many months now, and I’m usually not the biggest fan of DC movies. I’m a Marvel girly, but I was very impressed by this film.
I want to start this review by talking about the acting performances given by this amazing cast. David Corenswet doesn’t just embody Superman, he is Superman. He did a great job at bringing his character to life. The way he could switch from Clark Kent to Superman’s voice was insane to me. It was a callback to the original Superman films with Christopher Reeve. Rachel Brosnahan was a great Lois Lane. She captured her inquisitiveness and kind nature so well. I do wish she had a bigger role in the story.
Corenswet and Brosnahan’s chemistry was off-the-charts. It felt genuine and real. The love that Clark has for Lois is the kind of love I hope everybody gets the chance to experience. As a romance author and fan, they hit the mark for me.
Krypto is my favorite in this though. All of his scenes cracked me up. One of my favorite movie dogs ever.
I went to see the film in 3D, and I don’t typically love 3D, but it was such a cool experience seeing this in 3D because of all the action and the visual effects.
Superman is now playing in theaters.
