Having an online presence is more important than ever these days in this technologically savvy climate. Today, I wanted to list some ways that you can create a presence online whether it’s for college or for your career. Let’s get into this.
Here are ways you can create on online presence.
1. ePortfolios
One way you can create an online presence is by making an ePortfolio. ePortfolios are digital portfolios that can be viewed on the internet. It’s simply a website that consists of work you’ve done in school and beyond. Most of the time, you’re asked to make one while you’re in college. I made one in my final semester.
They’re a great starting point for getting yourself out there. They help recruiters and employers get to know you as an individual and a professional.
2. Blogs and Websites
Another way you can create an online presence is by making a blog or website. What’s the difference you ask? I’ll tell you.
A blog is a website that posts diary-style entries in reverse chronological order with the most recent post at the top.
A website is a set of web pages that’s located under a domain (URL). A domain is the line of text at the top of your mobile device’s browser or computer browser.
You can create a hybrid website which is the combination of both of these items. Both are great options for the writers out there who need writing samples and may not have any. They’re also great because having a blog or website shows a recruiter or employer that you’re driven and a self-starter.
3. Social Media
The last way you can create an online presence is creating a social media account. The best platforms to join are LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok.
I will discuss LinkedIn in more detail in another post but it’s great platform to search for job opportunities and network with people in your intended industry. Instagram is great for graphic designers, artists, authors, and other creatives who are looking to network and find job opportunities. Twitter is great for writers to find pitch calls and job opportunities. TikTok is great for video creators who are looking to develop an audience.
Social media has become a prominent part of our lives since its right at our fingertips.
Time to Wrap It Up
Well, that’s about it. I hope these are helpful ideas for you so you can create a presence online.
