The highly anticipated sophomore season of the hit Netflix series, Bridgerton, debuted on the streaming service on March 25, 2022. Season 2 follows Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) as he is on a quest to find a wife. A whopping 251 hours was watched during its first week. Crazy, right? I wanted to take the time to review the new season. Let’s get into this.
I’m a huge sucker for the enemies to lover trope. It’s my favorite trope of all time. I don’t why. I guess it’s just interesting because the relationship has more layers and intrigue. This season of Bridgerton definitely delivers a satisfying enemies to lovers story. I cannot tell you how much I adored Anthony and Kate Sharma’s (Simone Ashley) relationship through the course of the entire season. Their chemistry was so palpable and electric.
Don’t worry, there will be no spoilers here. There were a lot of other storylines covered in this season. Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie) and Penelope Featherington’s (Nicola Coughlan) friendship is tested, The Featheringtons are caught in a web of lies, and much more.
I can say that this season was so much better than season 1. I thought it was more interesting. I liked that Anthony and Kate’s relationship was built on sexual tension and not just sex. The yearning for each other was more entertaining to watch.
In the beginning of the season, Kate is focused on finding a husband for her sister, Edwina Sharma (Charithra Chandran) but ends up in a love triangle. Charithra’s performance as Edwina was captivating. There were times that Edwina annoyed me but the character development she goes through is amazing.
Yes! Netflix renewed the series for a third and fourth season. This was done after the success of the first season. Simone Ashley and Jonathan Bailey are set to return for the third season. There’s no telling what the third season could be about. I would love to see Eloise as the focus for the third season.
If you haven’t watched the second season yet, what are you waiting for?
