Met Gala 2022: My Favorite Looks from Fashion’s Biggest Night

The Met Gala is an annual fashion event held on the first Monday in May. On May 2nd, fashion’s biggest night was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The gala celebrated the newest exhibition of the Costume Institute, “In America: An Anthology of Fashion”. The co-chairs are actress Blake Lively, actor Ryan Reynolds, actress/director Regina King, and actor Lin-Manuel Miranda.

While I’m not an expert on fashion nor am I a huge fashion fan, something draws me into watching the Met Gala. Part of me likes to watch so I can give constructive criticism but I honestly think another part of me actually enjoys it. I love art and fashion is a form of art. It’s a way to express yourself and I think that’s exactly what the Met Gala does. It allows celebrities to think outside the box and incorporate themselves through what they wear.

With that being said, I wanted to share my favorite looks from the 2022 Met Gala. Let’s start, shall we?

Blake Lively

Blake’s dress is designed by Versace. The design is inspired by New York City and the Statue of Liberty. When I heard that Blake was going to attend this year’s Met Gala, I knew she was going to serve. The original dress design is done with a bow that later revealed this stunning blue underneath. She definitely had the best look of the night.

Shawn Mendes

Shawn is wearing Tommy Hilfiger. When I saw a photo of him on Instagram, my jaw hit the floor. He looks like a late 1800s or 1990s vampire. Some likened the look to Prince Eric from The Little Mermaid and I can’t unsee it now.

Simone Ashley

Simone is wearing Moschino. She always looks so effortless. I love how elegant this look is and how it’s not in your face. I could see this being worn during the Gilded Age if the bralette was attached to the skirt.

Sabrina Carpenter

Sabrina is wearing Paco Rabanne. She looks like a golden goddess. The skirt is so dreamy and so pretty. Her look doesn’t really adhere to the theme but she still looks incredible.

Hailey Bieber

Hailey is wearing Yves Saint Laurent (YSL). She looks so timeless and this dress fits the theme pretty well. It was interesting to learn the backstory behind the look on YouTube channel. I love how minimal the makeup is. It ties the whole look together.

Taylor Hill

Taylor Hill is wearing Dolce & Gabbana. Let me start by saying that I adore the color of this dress. It’s definitely a color that would’ve been used in the Gilded Age. It’s classy and regal. The flower pattern is so pretty. I like she kept her hair and makeup simple since the dress makes a huge statement on its own.

Maude Apatow

Maude is wearing Miu Miu. She looks so regal. The hair and the makeup are so on point with the theme. I’m not the biggest fan of see-through material but Maude pulls it off so effortlessly.

Lily James

Lily is wearing Versace. This woman could wear a trash bag and make it look amazing. I love the color of this dress. Her look feels reminiscent of Zoey Deutch’s look from last year’s Met Gala which I love. The hair and the makeup add some edge.

Camila Mendes

Camila is wearing Golden AMI by Alexandre Mattiussi. Here we have another golden goddess. The fact that this dress was created in so little time amazes me. I love the fringe. It give the dress movement. The hair and the makeup help tie the look altogether.

Phoebe Dynevor

Phoebe is wearing Louis Vuitton. While I don’t love this dress, I think she pulls it off so well. The details are so pretty. I love the long, wavy hair and the simple makeup. I just feel like she could’ve worn this to any other event.

Emma Stone

Emma is wearing Louis Vuitton. Emma’s look is the complete opposite of Phoebe’s. She looks like a pretty ballerina. While I do like this look, I do think it was extremely minimal and could’ve been worn to another event.

Closing Thoughts

While it wasn’t an entirely memorable Met Gala, there were a lot of looks that I genuine liked or loved. I do think the 2018 Met Gala takes the cake for being the most memorable and included beautiful looks. This was very different for me as far as content goes. I never really write anything fashion or beauty related but I had so much fun putting this piece together.

I want you all to remember these are MY favorite looks. You don’t have to agree with me because we’re all individuals and we all have different opinions but at least respect my opinions.

I may do more fashion and/or beauty related articles if something comes up that I want to write about for you all.

Hope you enjoyed this rundown of my favorite looks from the 2021 Met Gala.
