‘Avengers: Endgame’ Is a Rollercoaster Of Emotions

Avengers: Endgame was released in U.S. theaters on April 26, 2019. It is produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures. It a direct sequel to Avengers: Infinity War and the 22nd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film follows the Avengers as they try to reverse the damage that Thanos caused in Infinity War.
Developing a Global Success
The film was directed by Anthony and Joe Russo aka the Russo Brothers. Endgame was announced in 2014 as Infinity War — Part 2 but Marvel eventually removed the title and it was renamed as Avengers: Endgame. The brothers were hired as the directors for the film in 2015.
The Filming Process
Filming for the film began in August of 2017 in Georgia, shooting back-to-back with Infinity War. Filming ended in 2018 with additional filming being done in metro and downtown Atlanta, New York, Scotland, and England. Both films were the first to be filmed in digital IMAX, using a new camera that was developed by film equipment manufacturer, Arri.
Endgame is one of the most expensive films ever made having a budget of $356-400 million.
An Ensemble Cast for the Ages
The film features an all-star cast of familiar faces.
Robert Downey Jr. portrays Tony Stark aka Iron Man. Chris Evans portrays Steve Rogers aka Captain America. Scarlett Johansson portrays Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow. Chris Hemsworth portrays Thor Odinson aka The God of Thunder. Mark Ruffalo portrays Bruce Banner aka the Hulk. Elizabeth Olsen portrays Wanda Maximoff aka the Scarlett Witch. Paul Rudd portrays Scott Lang aka Ant-Man. Tom Holland portrays Peter Parker aka Spider-Man. I think you get the picture. The list goes on and on and on.
Every character goes through a lot in this film but so does the audience.
Breaking Records in the Box Office and Beyond
During July 2019 and March 2021, the film wore the crown for being the highest-grossing film of all time. It ended up making almost $2.8 billion and broke numerous box office records.
It had an opening weekend worth $1.2 million, the biggest opening weekend for any film so far.
It got nominated for Best Visual Effects at the 2020 Academy Awards and 3 awards at the 2020 Critics Choice Awards (winning 2/3).
The film has a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.4/10 rating on IMDb. It received mostly positive reviews from critics and became a cultural phenomenon.
Is it Worth Watching?
Yes, definitely. Avengers: Endgame delivers a satisfying ending for the Infinity Saga. There is no doubt that it is a rollercoaster of emotions. It’s 3 hours of pure storytelling through action, amazing visual effects, humor, and the rich characters who are telling the story.
